Senate District 37 DFL Endorsing Convention

Convention Info:
The Senate District 37 DFL Endorsing Convention will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the Rosemount Middle School. Registration for delegates will begin at 9 AM and the convention will be called to order at 10 AM.
The convention will consist of endorsing our local Minnesota House candidates for the A and B side of our district. In addition, we will review the resolutions and decide which will be referred to the State DFL. We'll also be selecting delegates for the Congressional and State DFL conventions. Lastly, we'll be electing new directors, delegates to the DFL State Central Committee, and CD2 Convention planning committees. A notice for the convention will be sent to all delegates and alternates 10 days prior to the convention date.

Nominations/Screening Information:
Part of the business conducted at our endorsing convention will be the election of local SD37 officials. If you are interested in screening, please contact Jan at: janrlarson@frontiernet.net. Keep in mind there is no prior experience in politics required if you are interested. Also, you do not need to be a delegate to the convention to screen for any of the positions.
Open positions include:
Affirmative Action Officer:
The Affirmative Action Officer is responsible for the affirmative action as mandated by the state DFL Constitution. The Affirmative Action Officer should be prepared to attend executive and central committee meetings for the senate district, create an affirmative action plan for the senate district, and assist the chair/associate chair with various activities assigned.
Fundraising Director:
The Fundraising Director will be responsible for proposing, planning and implementing a fund raising plan for the senate district. The director must also be able to attend executive and central committee meetings as scheduled.
Publicity Director:
The Publicity Director is responsible for informing the general public of meetings and special events. The publicity director also publishes a district newsletter and is charged with assisting district endorsed candidates advertise events when asked. This director may aid local endorsed DFL candidates with press information and writing press releases.
Precinct Coordinator Director:
Responsible for maintaining contact with precinct chairs/associate chairs for the expressed purpose of developing the party organization in precincts. This involves developing a plan for precinct organization and voter id. The precinct coordinator also works with precinct chairs/associate chairs to develop listings for lawn sign locations for the use by local DFL endorsed candidates during an election year, arrange regular meetings of the county unit to give precinct chairs and party workers training and information on programs, campaigns, and issues.
Director-at-Large:
A total of ten Director-at-Large positions are available in the SD37 DFL Constitutions. Duties for these positions are assigned by the chair/associate chair of the senate district.
DFL State Central Committee Delegate/Alternate:
Three delegates to the DFL State Central Committee will represent Senate District 37 DFL to the State Central Committee in addition to the chair and the associate chair of the senate district. The delegates are required to attend meetings and vote on various issues as they arise. In addition to the three delegates, 5 alternates will be chosen to attend should the delegates not be able to attend.
CD2 Endorsing Convention Committee Members:
Members will be chosen to represent SD37 DFL at the Congressional District Level on committees including:
